7.59 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains allocated for 80 crore beneficiaries

Five phases of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana

Foodgrain distribution and allocation in phases

Out of which, states and UTs have reported distributing a total of 298.8 LMT foodgrains to an average of around 94% of NFSA beneficiaries, or 75 crore recipients, each month across the nation.
During the year 2021-22- Phase 3, Phase 4 and Phase 5 have been conducted in the year 2021-22, the details of which are as follows:-
- Phase 3– From May 2021 until June 2021, Phase 3 was in operation. The government has allocated 79.46 lakh metric tonnes of food grains for the third phase, with a 2-month distribution window. To an average of 95% of the NFSA population each month, States and UTs have reported distributing 75.2 MLT of foodgrains from this group. Which suggests that around 75.18 crore people received 94.5% of the food grains distributed.
- Phase 4– From July 2021 to November 2021, Phase 4 was in operation. The government has given the states and union territories 198.78 lakh metric tonnes of food grains for distribution over the next five months. Out of which, the Union Territories and States have submitted information on the distribution of 186.1 LMT of foodgrains. 93% of the beneficiaries have access to this program. Which suggests that around 74.4 crore people received 93.6% of the food grains distributed.
- Phase 5– From December 2021 to March 2022, Phase 5 will be in operation. For a distribution period of four months, the government has allotted 163 LMT of food grains to the states and union territories. Food grains totaling 19.76 LMT have already been provided to the beneficiaries.
